Cut Loose designs and manufactures clothing for real women in the real world. Women who value comfort as much as style. Women who want to feel as good as they look. Women like you!
Cut Loose then
The company was founded in 1977 by two enterprising expatriates who saw a way to bring European flair to California dressing. They garment-dyed cotton T-shirts and drawstring pants and sold them on San Francisco’s Fisherman’s Wharf. There were no changing rooms, so sizes were intentionally forgiving. Over the next three decades, Cut Loose moved its operations indoors and spread out to stores across the country and around the world—all while staying true to our creative roots.
Cut Loose now
Today, our clothes are still made of natural fibers—mostly cotton, linen, and cellulose-derived Tencel—and are garment dyed in our San Francisco manufacturing facility. (We make our sweaters overseas.) Doing it ourselves means we maintain exceptional quality control, guarantee fast order fulfillment, and pay our workers a living wage.
We refresh our colors, styles, and fabrics every season, but we carry over many best-selling items. Special orders? Just ask!
Where to find us
You’ll find Cut Loose in better boutiques and in our company-owned stores in Solana Beach (Southern California) and San Francisco. To find a store near you, check this page.
About our name
It’s not about size—it’s about spirit. It’s an invitation to laugh, leap, and play. And to truly cut loose!
